Missile Base
Held south of Bruneau
Hosted by "Happy Trails" Robin, "Lucky Ladies" Kathryn and Tracy, and
"Giddy Up Gals" Kathy and Tammy
and their trusty steeds Scotty, Rock, Raz, and Bridger
Another nice ride with beautiful scenery and a fun theme!

The gate to the old missile base.
It was a Cold War-era base of three silos for the Titan I Intercontinental
Ballistic Missile (ICBM).
The 160 foot deep silos were designed to withstand earthquakes and nuclear
missile impacts.
Construction ended before the deadline of 1 April 1962. In May of 1964,
the phase-out of the
Titan I weapons began, and they were replaced with the more efficient Titan II.
The 569th Strategic
Missile Squadrons sites in Idaho closed down and the personnel moved to Lowry
AFB, Colorado.
All Titan I squadrons were deactivated in June 1965.

You can really tell they plowed and reseeded (that's what happened to the roads
that were missing, too)
Eagle Eyes Kathy found an awesome elk shed!
This plane circled us several times
Thank goodness Kathy thought to bring the beer!
These amorous snakes were in the road when we came out to set the ride.
The first time I've seen snakes mating.
